Who picks which option

RAKEZ draws cost-led operators: general traders, workshop and light-industrial businesses, and remote consultants who need a compliant licence and a visa without paying for prestige. Masdar City attracts clean-energy, mobility and environmental-services founders, and anyone selling to Abu Dhabi institutions that read a capital-emirate address as credibility.

Two things founders ask

Does the founder have to live in the licence emirate? No. A residence visa issued through either zone is valid across the UAE, and many licensees in both live in Dubai while the company sits elsewhere.

When is the AED 3,500 premium worth it? When the Abu Dhabi association itself earns money — sustainability-sector work or institutional clients in the capital. Otherwise RAKEZ delivers the same legal wrapper for less.
